Hi folks!
Wanted to announce that I've released a new version of SyLens, the
lens dirtortion plugin that
reproduces distortions in the Syntheyes tracking software from
SSontech. The good news is that thanks to help
from Elefant Studios and thanks to tips from Ivan and Jonathan I was
able to expand the feature set substantially. It now does undistortion
in UV space (so you can undistort projected UVs), and it also got a
custom Camera node which renders everything
right with your distortion baked in. All in one filtering step
obviously.
I've also removed a number of confusing knobs and outlined the usage
patterns in the documentation.
The downloads are available for Nuke 6.3 for Windows, Mac and Linux 64-
bit. I've seen a bug report on the 3D nodes
on Windows with version 6.3v1, but this version is old and I cannot
reproduce this bug here.
There is about 90 percent chance that if you use Syntheyes in
production you will want these plugins.
All the downloads and the source code are available here
https://github.com/julik/sylens
This is also a good example how you could implement such a workflow
with a different lens distortion algorithm (just
tweak the implementation of the Distorter class and you will
eventually get there).
Once again, I am really grateful to Ivan and Jonathan for their advice
since GeoOps were an uncharted territory for me.
