Hi Coolchipper

I've preped for different studios and have seen different workflows so it can
bee confusing but as a rule of thumb its always best to undistort when using
projections or 3D modeling

regarding over scan there two routes you could take depending on your shot. for
example lets assume the resolution of the working plate is 1920x1080

A: If the your patch is for something that stays in screen and never reaches
the edges then you would

1: Undistort image
2:Write out the UD plate in your original working format no need to reformat
3.Create patch/fix
4:Re-distort and comp back over the original

B:If the patch is for something that is edge to edge including cg, anything
thing that goes out of frame. The you will have to render out the overscan and
work with that.

1: Undistort image(new overscan resolution is 1935x1089)
2:Reformat to the new over scan rez with a reformat node make sure the re size
type is set to none and from the center
3:Create patch/fix
4:reformat back to the original rez 1920x1080 again making sure that re size is
set to none and center also check the preserve BB or it will crop the image and
you'll lose pixels
5:Re-distort and comp back over the original

Note: i'm not sure if reformatting with the resize set to none and center is
the right way to do it but it works for me

Hope this helps
