That's a great tip to call "autocrop". I selected the node. Press "X" Prompt window appears, type "autocrop" (I had TCL selected) It runs, creating a curvetool then replaces it with a crop node already keyframed.
Cool stuff. Any other "X" shortcuts like that? For OP, if you are having trouble with this then Nuke may not be installed correctly. It sounds like Nuke isn't finding a certain operation that may live in a file somewhere inside the Nuke folder.
