I have a river mask and a specular pass of a sun. I gained the specular pass to a little point/middlepoint. Because of camera movement, the specular is moving and hits once in a while the riversurface. The river mask drives the visibility of the specular dot, so either the dot is visible=white=1 when it hits the river mask, or it is black=0. And these values drive the merge node where a flare is connected. But I think what you posted is exactly what I need, just need to understand and rebuild it.
