That is the correct result. For a rotation only solve (ie pan tilt) everything 
will be mapped to a sphere surrounding the camera. The portion of which depends 
on the move itself. In this type of move there is no parallax. At least it's 
theoretically possible to have no parallax if the nodal point is used and 
nothing is so close to the camera to create some parallax.

Anyway assuming a pretty good nodal match then you would expect it to be 
matched on a sphere  the size of which reflects the focal length. 

The lens distortion is not related to this part. 

If your shot was actually a crane up rather than tilt then the parallax is lost 
in this shot and can't be solved.
