You just need to install the Nvidia Cuda drivers here:

https://developer.nvidia.com/cuda-downloads

As for the slow cache.  Hard to know without seeing the setup and where
your footage is, etc…  Maybe your hard drive is getting full?  There is a
utility out there to enable trim support on osx.  Just google for “Trim
enabler osx“.
