you did nothing wrong with you setup.

the env reflection is just a look up on the env sphere from the normal of the surface. because on a plane all normals look in the same direction you will only see this little part of the env sphere.

I'm trying to add a reflection onto some window panes. The reflection is the rear of the room which i have photos of.

My first attempt was to create a spherical map to map to the Environment light and generate a reflection via that method.

So i have a network that uses a mapped cube (sides of room), with a camera set to spherical to generate a square map. This is piped into the environment light.

However i think i must be generating this spherical map wrong, because in a sample scene if i place some cards and a sphere, the reflection looks right in the sphere but the cards are reflecting a tiny magnified portion of the map which is not accurate at all compared to a reflection of a back wall in 3D.

What am i doing wrong as it's bound to be me.

Or what other strategies are there for planar reflections when you have the photo of what the glass is reflecting?

many thanks
Paul
