I also see this on windows a lot in varying degrees and symptoms. Seems to be GFX Card and Driver dependent.
Issues vary from both labels and pipes disappearing, and also im some cases the pipes getting way to THICK at certain zoomlevels before disappearing. The pipes disappear way to early when zooming out and so do the node labels. Mavericks seems to behave better in that regard (but it sucks on many other levels).
