I was having the same issue and my issue was this: The prores is failing, but not really reporting why it's failing accurately. I ended up exporting to a DPX sequence, which like your export got part of the way, then failed. But when exporting to DPX the error message was much more detailed. Turns out it was looking for a frame that didn't exist. Once I fixed that both the prores and dpx exports ran fine.
I raised this with TF and this is what they said: "Bug 49241 -Export - Wrong error dialog appears after exporting file with MPEG-4 codec in Studio NC It should be fixed soon. In the meantime, I would suggest selecting the 'Keep Nuke Script' option on the transcode exporter, which cause the nk script and log file from the transcode to be left in the target directory. This allows you to open the log file to see the errors."
