I can confirm the same behaviour you see. It seems like you can’t use r,g,b as 
an abbreviation when referring to a different channel than rgba. Use the long 
names instead:

new.red
new.green
new.blue
new.alpha

works fine here with these.

Can you confirm you are getting the new.b as a result. It should be the blurry 
branch.
I’m not getting any results back from the node, just returning the rgba channels
