Archibald suggested, you can use list comprehension: N.array([(a,b,c,d,) for (a,b,c,d) in yourlist], dtype=yourdesc) or N.fromiter(((a,b,c,d) for (a,b,c,d,) in yourlist), dtype=yourdesc) Would you mind trying that, and let us know which one works best ?
