The trouble arose when Andrew Tridgell reversed engineered the protocol, which Larry McVoy complained violated the terms of use. So on and so forth. I haven't noted problems along that line with GitHub. It doesn't bother me that it is proprietary as long as they are responsive and I do appreciate the work going on to make it better. Someone has to pay for that and we are getting a free ride. It might be nice if we could back up the issues and PRs so history wouldn't be lost if we did need to move at some point, but that would be a good idea on any site. Chuck
