Sorry I didn't respond sooner. It seems to have taken almost 3 hours for me to receive this message.
In any case the problems seems to have been resolved. I am able to build and install numpy version 1.0.4.dev3828 on my RHE3 machine running Python 2.5.1. Thank you for the quick fix. Chris p.s.
