I think OpenBLAS is currently the most promising candidate to replace ATLAS. But we need to build OpenBLAS with MinGW gcc, due to AT&T syntax in the assembly code. I am not sure if the old toolchain is good enough, or if we will need Carl Kleffner's binaries.
