Yes I believe this is a critical piece of the puzzle that makes the CLA useable
in a product. It seems that the CLA was designed without this outer loop
parameter modifier in mind. The need then arose to use GAs to configure the
parameters, which proved to be successful.
When we strip out the core does it make sense to optimize (by providing a well
thought out API) the relationship between this GA outer loop and CLA? As GAs
can be combined in interesting ways should this outer GA loop be pluggable so
the application developer simply calls (via API) the needed GAs, or can create
her own. Therefore, hopefully never needing to touch the parameters at all,
though they will still be available in the API.
