Our team at Grok has been working hard lately preparing a commercial product using NuPIC to provide anomaly detection services for AWS components. This product (code named "Mercury") installs on EC2 and links to an AWS account, allowing for easy attachment to running AWS services like EC2, RDS, and SQS. Once linked, it will run NuPIC models in anomaly detection mode against the metrics identified for each service. A mobile Android application (iOS coming soon) allows IT sysadmins and other monitoring personnel to receive anomalies within their mobile phone in real-time. We believe the CLA will enable users to find unusual behavior better than other technologies, so IT professionals can prevent serious problems while avoiding false positives. Once deployed to key systems, Mercury learns normal patterns of usage and load and then highlights anomalies. And, as changes occur, Mercury learns the new topology and patterns and adjusts its anomaly detection automatically. Our current version is optimized for systems deployed on AWS (Amazon Web Services), so it supports monitoring for a subset of AWS products.
