Hi, first off, nupic on /opt is not a good idea (write-permissions). Install to your home folder, eg ~/nupic Second, if you edited the .bashrc for the first time, you need to reload shell with it. Just write $bash. (no need to do later.) Next, do cd $NUPIC and ./build.sh (the ./ is necessary).
