Speech recognition is a cool application of HTM. Since you are working
on the "old" HTM architecture you might find my thesis interesting:

Among other things I show that HTM and hierarchical slow feature
analysis (SFA) are very closely related. And how HTMs can be
incrementally trained using a back propagation algorithm.
