Hi Sergey, If your data is random, no algorithm will predict the next value (that's one definition of random). On the substantive part of your question, NuPIC can indeed be used for category prediction, as long as there is enough spatiotemporal structure in the data (parts of the SP is really doing correlation recognition across input fields).
