"You know, we could stop posting about how it's a clone of something and
start realizing that it's a different game altogether.
Bottom line: DotA is a mod. Demigod is a fully from-scratch made game.
There's a difference. Gameplay IS different.
No, it's not exactly like DotA."

Warning: Wall of Text.

Your logic and reasons are flawed, but your conclusion is sound. It is not
exactly like Dota, but it is pretty darn close. Dota may be a mod, but the
game might as well be it's own released game because of the depth and
fanbase within the game. With Demigod, you start on one side of the map and
fight your way through sections of the map attempting to kill the
oppositions towers, army and heroes (exact same concept of Dota).

It has a tenth of the heroes(bad), but each hero has extended spell
trees(fantastic) for more variation of the heroes. Demigod has much better
graphics and eye candy than Dota has, so that is a huge plus over Dota.
People who have not played Dota or played it briefly love Demigod because it
is currently a very forgiving game in that not many people know how to play
it, so everyone is a newb who is willing to help everyone else out get
better.

The only reason (good) Dota players will not move over to Demigod is because
we are telling ourselves "Why pay for something that only looks better with
less heroes?" The better players belong to clans or groups of friends IRL or
online that make up the good Dota community. The people complaining about
the Dota community are the poor/bad Dota players who aren't able to perform
their roles and are called out on it (I would use stronger language, but
gamefaqs doesn't like that).

Dota has a very high learning curve and is not noob friendly, but it is very
rewarding when you become an average or good player. Not many people want to
play against AI, have friends to teach them or do not know about
dota-allstars.com to help them with strategy.

The games are very similar but vastly different graphics, community and hero
choices. We don't want to pay for the same game with eye candy, while
Demigod fans don't want to pay/play a game with a very unfriendly community
to Demigod. If I could get the game for free I would probably try it for a
day before going back to Dota.

TLR/Conclusion: We all have different tastes and game backgrounds, so we
will choose what we are comfortable with. Dota players will stick with Dota
while Demigod fans will stick with Demigod.
