this is somehow what I did: by redefined the levels ("__" becomes level 0,
while "==" becomes l1, ...)

this is also the conclusion I came to. The other problem linked is the
"variable title".
for example, the "Cables" section is used as is in the website, but the
title is then "Appendix H: Cables information" when included in the User
Manual.

this is why I've made the title conditional in the source file (ie
cables.txt in the above example).
