I don't think we would want to use the patch as it is. Besides the use
of an obsolete AC_TRY_LINK macro (we try to avoid using that when
adding stuff), I'd rather see this implemented in a way where people
can specify which CFLAGS and LDFLAGS needed for OpenSSL support. This
also deals with OpenSSL installed in /usr/local or another obscure
location.
