Not a mozilla issue. There was a theme that was downloaded that set the
default body text for pages that do not set their own color to black:
body {
background-color: white !important;
/* color: black !important; */
color: #767676 !important;
display: block;
margin: 8px;
}
I set it to a dark gray which works on both light/dark background. Issue
solved:
