unless you use a linux distribution which maintains its packages for a long time ( like 10 years ) in which case at least backports are used to close any security holes that are discovered and relevant.

When the Raspberry Pi was announced in 2012, Python3 had already been available for 6 years. When the X728 was announced (april 2020 ?), Python3 had been around for 14 years, and Python2 was already dead.

There _are_ major projects which still run on Python2 and which havn't yet migrated, e.g. Mailman 2.1.23 which is used for this mailing list.
