Good call IMO.

Perhaps MAXWAITTIME is itself not too good. It doesn't make it clear that the subject of the waiting is the secondaries. Perhaps MAXWAITSCNDRY or SCNDRYMAXWAIT. Cumbersome, but closer to the subject.
