I've got a client who lives in an area where there are now frequent power outages that last for several hours at a time.

(US Pacific northwest, where due to the extreme risks of wildfire the power company has disabled their "automatic failover", so if an area sees a fault they dispatch teams to inspect the situation before turning power back on. On the one hand, "this sucks flaming red bugs". On the other hand, wildfires can be horrific.)

These power outages take their toll on the UPS batteries, so we're contemplating running upsd to monitor the power, and if a power outage has gone on for, say, more than 5 minutes we'd like to tell at least they hypervisors to shut down, and then probably shut down the UPSes as well. This would, of course, require the UPSes and the hypervisors to power up again once power has been restored.

I'm looking for somebody to get this working.

Suggestions and/or recommendations?

Thanks...

H
