Does OS X recognize the UPS as a power source? Right now, I do not
know of a way to tell the system not to try and connect to the UPS (so
that NUT can connect instead), so there may be some interactions here.
Can you start the driver like this: "/sw/bin/newhidups -u root -DDD"
and paste some of the output?
