This could be due to a problem with handling interrupt reports. If memory serves, Tripplite UPSes are broken in this aspect (and generate this continuously), so you may be hit by this. There was a fix for this in nut-2.2.2 (it limits reading them to 32), so it would be worthwhile to check if upgrading helps.
