Hello,
after some longer time, I tried to upgrade NUT to 2.4.1 today, and I was
really shocked - why did you remove allowfrom, ACCEPT and REJECT support?
Ok, you have returned allowfrom functionality after 11 months, but ACCEPT
and REJECT are still missing. Why everybody has to use firewall now (and
configure two unrelated things - firewall and /etc/hosts.allow, furthermore
both very error prone) on every server with UPS attached and monitored
(= unauthorized scanning of attached UPSs)? Why /etc/hosts.allow is just
half-way and it is not used for all connections, as is for /etc/hosts.allow
usual? I believe, that there are many people, who configured /etc/hosts.allow
for new nut and mistakenly believe, that it is equivalent to previous config.
"ACCEPT/REJECT/ACL in upsd.conf is no longer supported - switch to
LISTEN" is really ridiculous.
I'm sorry that I'm so upleasant, but this is just after one lost
day with trying to upgrade config files after a program upgrade,
debugging, finding missing documentation, studying source files,
studying past discussions and staying in real astonishment and
thinking among finding another software, downgrading or patching.
Please have a nice day, I'm sorry, I'm just very disappointed.
