I installed nut 2.4.3-1 from Debian Squeeze packages on my Debian Lenny system using dpkg (I purged the 2.2.2 install first). I set up the /etc/nut/ files.

usb doesn't work because it needs the patch described in this thread (I get the same errors):
http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/nut-upsuser/2010-May/006034.html

I switched off the UPS, hooked up the serial cable, powered on UPS, checked that my computer still has External Connector set to serial
device 1, checked the permissions on /dev/ttyS0. All good.

But, same errors as before. See below.

I'm aware that the only thing I haven't established is that the serial port on this computer is working. Unfortunately I don't have any other serial devices, and the only other method I'd seen involves paper clips and I don't really want to get into that on my nice new machine!

I guess I'll try and apply that patch. Otherwise it's back to 2.2.2 on usb with a really long DEADTIME.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Thanks
