You may have misinterpreted my email as a complaint about Lucene's
chosen platform, but I think Lucene's platform choice was exactly right,
and I'm delighted with Lucene's degree of freedom.  My point, however,
stands: even though the reasons are almost obsolete, the free-software
community still mostly shuns Java, so the sample in Doug's survey of
developer attitudes was biased against the people who would have
preferred the GPL.
