Yes, this is including the search front-ends; although for a high traffic site you will probably need some special hardware load-balancing arrangement for the front-end part in addition to the standard Nutch load-balancing.

In terms of queries per second - calculations and anecdotal evidence show that it should be something between 5-20 queries per second. In reality - these figures have been reported for installations in the order of 50-110mln documents, anything larger is an educated guess at the moment...
3. Does this allow for a cache like google?
Yes, that's a standard Nutch feature.
