ROME (http://wiki.java.net/bin/view/Javawsxml/Rome) only depends on Jdom (with no additional dependencies) and performs just as well as FeedParser despite using a DOM parsing model (See http://www.mackmo.com/syndbench/feedparserresults.html and http://www.mackmo.com/syndbench/romeresults.html) (Sorry Kevin - couldn't help myself!)
