Hi Folks,
I was just wondering: has anyone given any thought to porting Nutch to Maven (http://maven.apache.org <http://maven.apache.org/> )? I think that it would simplify the external library dependencies a whole lotta bunch, just for starters. Maven also has a lot of other goodies (such as site generation, checkstyle/jdepend reports, etc.) and uses the idea that you should describe your project once (using metadata in a "Project Object Model", or POM file), and then a lot of typical system building and maintenance tasks should be based on that model. There is debate between Ant users and Maven users as to which one is better, but from my experience at JPL, upgrading our projects to Maven (from Ant) has saved a lot of time, energy, and been downright, dare I say, fun :-) Just a thought.
