Jerome Charron commented on NUTCH-33:
-------------------------------------

John, I will fix the use of deprecated APIs in unit tests as soon as possible.

Damian, thank you very mutch for the link on freedesktop "shared mime info".
Their current database seems to be very complete. Since, the freedesktop xml
schema is very close to our current one, It will be not too difficult to
replace our current schema by the freedesktop schema and then uses the
freedesktop database instead of our current one.
In a second-step mime implementation for Nutch, I will implement this without
changing the current Mime APIs.
John, I don't know what are the license restrictions for nutch. Do you think we
can import the freedesktop mime database in nutch sources?

Jerome

> Extension based content-type detector is not suffisant in some cases.
> The solution is to add a content type detector based on some magic char
> sequences like in apache httpd for instance.
> (Note: I created this issue only to keep a trace, but I'm currently working
> on it)
