This is an extended version of the previous patch, in addition to the previous
changes it includes also:
* changes to the Protocol interface, to enable more flexible fetching and
status reporting
* introduce ProtocolOutput and ProtocolStatus, in a similar model as Parse and
ParseStatus. Similarly, ProtocolStatus is not persistent for now.
* refactor Fetcher to use status-driven logic, both on the protocol and parsing
level.
