I run on Opterons as well for my search nodes and they are much quicker (and more stable) than the intel's i ran on. I have *NEVER* had a stable JVM for more than 24 hours on abusy Xeon or anything with Hyperthreading enabled.
The opteron has a fast FSB, large cache and on a recent linux kernel the stability is second to none. Update 2 of the jre 1.5 also improved my stability. -byron -----Original Message----- From: Chris Lamprecht <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [email protected] Date: Thu, 7 Apr 2005 19:35:20 -0500 Subject: Re: Nutch - new public server > Hi Piotr, > > Do you have any search speed performance comparison data between the > 64-bit JVM on an Opteron versus an Intel xeon with the 32-bit JVM? > I'd appreciate any info you have.
