Having been a Unix admin for quite a few years I know that accidents happen, and that your mysterious 'something' could be in reality someone's mistake, or a rogue/broken script, or an intruder, or a couple of other things. Unless you can positively identify that 'something' as a bug in Nutch, we can't do anything to fix it.


If the data is gone, then it's gone (unless you have a backup). You will have to re-fetch all pages into new segments, but if you have the old WebDB then it's a straightforward process, albeit resource-consuming, so this is not a complete catastrophe...
