Gang,
A word of caution. I inadvertently trashed our entire DFS today by
passing the directory containing dfs.data.dir, etc. in the
<workingdir> parameter of the merge (IndexMerger.main) command (as I
had successfully done with earlier versions of Nutch). Previously,
this command would place a temporary directory named
"indexmerger-workingdir" _within_ <workingdir>, and then delete
"indexmerger-workingdir" afterward. Now (as of change 383304), it
deletes the _entire_ <workingdir>. For details, see
<http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NUTCH-341>.
I agree that what I had been doing probably isn't the safest way to
merge indexes, but I thought I'd highlight the difference in the
behavior of IndexMerger in case this might save others from my fate.
Best Regards,
- Chris
