I didn't look too hard, but it doesn't seem as though that place
supports JSP or Java. You'll have to look for a webhost that provides it,
or get a dedicated server account which is usually fairly expensive.

To find a host that supports JSP or Tomcat, try going to
http://www.webhostingtalk.com and searching for JSP.

I believe your plan of crawling at home and uploading the db should
work, but I'm not 100% sure.

Hi all,

I'm a Nutch newbie and was able to download and install nutch on my Dell
Laptop running Windows XP, and although I have a lot to figure out still, I
was able to do a couple successful crawl/index/searches using the intranet
search and about to being my exploration of the whole-web search
capabilities,.

The website I maintain is currently hosted by
1planhost.com<http://1planhost.com>,
which uses serves running Windows 2003 Server. I am interested in doing the
crawl and indexing on my laptop (3 Ghz Pentium 4 Processor, with 1.5 Ghz
RAM) and then uploading the Nutch databases to my webhost (and whatever
other aspects of Nutch would be necessary). I want to do this so I don't eat
up all my bandwith on my webhosting account.

Here are my questions:

1. Does this sound theoretically possible. What would the basic steps
involved be?

2. Assuming this is theoretically possible, before I invest too much time in
this endeavor I want to make sure that this would specifically be possible
with 1planhost.com <http://1planhost.com> (the webhost I use). What
information would I need to get from them to find out if what I'm trying to
do is possible on their servers.

Thanks for any helpful info y'all can provide,

Bryan

p.s. I know very little about Apache, servlets, etc., so please draft your
reponse accordingly.
