Hello, yes, I think 0.7.x without NDFS and Map/Reduce should be fine for
one-machine applications. You should be able to set up Nutch without
NDFS or Map/Reduce by setting the fs.default.name and mapred.job.tracker
properties to "local" (I think these may already be the default).

Subject: Help! 0.7.1 segments don't work in 0.8

I think that this question (and some others) are somewhat related with
my early post (New Tutorial Needed). Even if the next release (0.7.2)
will still not be map reduced, this seems to be the Nutch future (even
the nightly releases are, already). I feel that many of Nutch users,
like myself, just want to be able to set up Nutch for use in their own
applications (most of them need just a single computer) and are not
skilled enough, or even do not have the computational background, to
programme things. So, I think that some sort of careful tutorial, or
some transictional instructions will be needed in order to allow us in
keeping with Nutch progress.
Thanks and lots of lucky, to every one, in the next year (and in all
other years to come, of course!)
