After gleaning many posts from this user list, I have been able to track down the methodology necessary to crawl and search multiple sites independently from one another - by which I am referring to setting up intranet crawls on my server and publishing them to the internet as independent search front-ends.
Since it took a bit of effort to track down this information, I thought this information would be useful to others, and so I have documented my approach to this as part of the (new) Nutch WIKI page 'GettingNutchRunningUnderDebian' but with modifications they may work under other OSes. -Steve
