I made a funny experience while trying out nutch. I think it was on a machine with Fedora Core 6 or 7. Tomcat was running, Apache not.
Tomcat 5.5 responded to http://localhost:8080 with the start-page. Is this really possible or was it any mistake that I made? I tought that Apache was needed in order to run Tomcat.
