It was actually discussed before ( http://www.nabble.com/upgrade-to-hadoop-0.13--tf3938872.html#a11171585 ). Hadoop-0.14 was to remove Configuration.setObject method which is used in Nutch for caching, so we had to implement another caching mechanism. NUTCH-501 was opened to track this change. In my simple tests, NUTCH-501 seemed to work but it kinda fell off my radar and I forgot about it. Even though hadoop-0.14 did not remove Configuration.setObject, now might be a good time to replace usages of setObject with NUTCH-501's ObjectCache since hadoop guys are probably going to remove that method sooner or later. So, I would suggest that we resolve NUTCH-501, wait for 0.14.1 to be released and upgrade to 0.14.1. How does that sound? -- Doğacan Güney
