I'll get the in action book ordered today.

Are there any tutorials or howto docs somewhere describing these three
products together?  Specifically, Using Nutch to crawl when you intend
to use Solr to query.  Do you need to have Nutch insert documents
through Solr?  Or do I just need to learn all about Lucene, and make
sure that I run Nutch in such a way that Solr will function properly
as a query interface.
