Hi, Thanks a lot for the all the suggessions . My problem got solved in an unusual way, i tried everything but still couldnt find out the reason why i was not able to perform search. Out of desperation i moved the directory that has the indexes to another location from desktop in my fedora OS, (/usr/share/tomcat6/webapps/nutch-0.9/) and it worked !
