Please see the CHANGES.txt in the nightly releases, and pick the change you like the best ;) There's a lot of changes and improvements, and new functionality.
My favorites: Tika mime-type handling, new indexing framework, new scoring framework, Nutch/Solr integration, significant Fetcher improvements, ditto for redirect handling.
