latest update to this bug is resolved fixinsource 07-07-2009.

I can still reproduce failures with both testcases detailed above.
On de-selecting e.g. hme1 from edit connections dialog, terminal output
indicates
"Warning NCU removed from list, but not propegated"
- reopening bug.
