This machine originally connected the previous day, due to a selection from the
menu. 

But it did go up and down at times, specifically I had turned off the AP around
9.35 to 9.45 (very approx), but there was another AP with the same name in
range, but very weak signal.

The one that was turned off/on was bssid 0:16:a6:10:1d:18. The other, with the
weak signal is 0:16:a6:10:1c:26.

So the most likely code path is seeing that the AP went down, and looking for
an alternative, but finding a very weak one, and then later the string AP was
turned on again, and it connected.
