First create a new BE and boot into that .

$ pfexec bash
# beadm create nwam-be
# reboot -p (or reboot if -p gives an error)

In the boot menu, select "nwam-be".

Now, in the new BE, check with "beadm list" and make sure "nwam-be" is
active (with N) and mountpoint at "/".

$ pfexec bash

Then, in the same command line:
#
/net/trigati.east/export/build/am223141/nwam1-build/usr/src/tools/scripts/bfu
/net/trigati.east/export/build/am223141/nwam1-build/archives/i386/nwam1-build-RC-current

When bfu is done,

# acr

Then,

# reboot -p

The GUI has to be installed separately.

At boot menu, again choose "nwam-be" for nwam phase 1.

$ pfexec bash
# cd
/net/jdsserv.ireland/scratch/month/darrenk/NWAM_Manager_Phase_1/i386/2009-10-06
# ./update_nwam_manager.sh

log out and log back in and the GUI will be running too.

After boot, most times hereafter, you will run into

11685 on boot, no interfaces and empty Automatic NCP
      http://defect.opensolaris.org/bz/show_bug.cgi?id=11685

The workaround is to restart nwam with "svcadm restart nwam".
